Why are these tailpieces so expensive?
Frirsz tailpieces are manufactured to very stringent dimensional and cosmetic standards, and several of the manufacturing steps are performed by hand. High quality production tooling, materials, and labor are expensive, and our tailpieces are made in the USA. Although our products cost more than most traditional tailpieces, they create noticeable improvements in most instruments. Considering the benefits they provide, Frirsz tailpieces are an excellent value.
What if I am not satisfied with the tailpiece?
You have 90 days from your purchase date to return it for a full refund of the purchase price with no questions asked and no hassle.
Are the Frirsz tailpieces available in fractional sizes?
Not at this time, but we are considering offering them in the future.
Do I need to have a really high quality (expensive) instrument for the tailpiece to work?
No. The patented Frirsz design will improve any instrument. We have satisfied customers who use our tailpieces on fine Cremonese masterpieces and others who use them on entry level student instruments.
Do your tailpieces include fine tuners?
We include fine tuners on the E-string position of our violin tailpieces and the A-String position on our viola tailpieces. Our cello tailpiece features interchangeable fine tuners and keyhole string attachments so it can be customized to the player's liking. We do not include fine tuners on our bass tailpieces.
What kind of tail cord do you recommend?
We include adjustable length nylon tail cords with our violin, viola, and cello tailpieces because they are easy to install and adjust, and they work great with our tailpieces. Many people adamantly choose to use Kevlar tail cords with their conventional tailpieces because they hear a noticeable improvement in their instrument. This confirms our belief that there is great tonal potential in this part of the instrument, and the Frirsz tailpiece design unleashes that potential regardless of the tail cord material.
Can I install the tailpiece myself?
Yes, and many of our customers do. If you are comfortable doing things to your instrument like changing the bridge, etc., you can successfully install a tailpiece. See our Installation Tips (link) page for more information on this.
Will my instrument need to acclimate after a Frirsz tailpiece is installed?
Your instrument will likely go through an adjustment period after the tension from the strings has been removed then re-established. This is not related to the Frirsz tailpiece. However, you will notice an immediate improvement in your instrument. Over time, you will become more comfortable with the new-found sensitivity and response, and you will likely experience the "Ah-ha" moment within a few days of installing the Frirsz tailpiece.
Do I need to tune the afterlength by adjusting the tail cord length?
No. The varied afterlength in the Frirsz design eliminates the need to do this. Small adjustments in tail cord length can help in reducing or eliminating wolf tones, but there is no need to tune certain strings or frequencies in the afterlength.
Can I have my tailpiece shipped to me overnight?
Yes, if the shipping destination is in the US. We offer expedited shipping to international locations, but ship times vary by country.
